Hypnotherapy Treatment for Addictions & Habits

Clinical Hypnotherapy can produce incredible results

Hypnotherapy is a fast, effective, drug and pain-free treatment for Addictions & Habits.
You can experience relief quicker than most other therapies.

Unwanted habits, also called “bad habits” and addictions are unwanted thoughts, emotions, or behaviour patterns that often feel beyond a person’s control.

When these habits seem ‘out of control’ hypnotherapy can help remove the positive association with the substance or habit.

What causes substance dependencies & unwanted habits?

There is no one cause or reason why a person becomes dependent on a substance such as alcohol, drugs or food, nor a solid reason why humans establish ‘bad habits’ such as smoking, nail biting, hoarding or addiction to social media. A variety of factors can be in play.

Although inconclusive, studies have indicated that modelling by parents, peer pressure, physical and sexual abuse, early exposure to substances or ‘bad habits” can affect a person’s  likelihood to become dependent on substances or to adopt certain habits and behaviours.

A person’s environment and genetics can also play a part.

Addiction can often start as self-medication to deal with difficult thoughts or feelings.

Substance use becomes substance abuse when a person is unable to control their behaviour.

What are common substance dependencies and unwanted habits?

Common substance dependencies and unwanted habits include:

  • Alcohol
  • Prescription and non-prescription drugs
  • Smoking
  • Food
  • Shopping
  • Porn
  • OCB – Obsessive Compulsive Behaviours
  • Social Media
  • Nail biting

There are also a range of ‘unusual’  dependencies and unwanted habits that people experience. These are also successfully treated with hypnotherapy.

Is Hypnotherapy effective for treating dependencies (addictions) and “bad habits”?

Dependencies and unwanted habits can be eliminated with Clinical Hypnotherapy and Strategic Psychotherapy.

Hypnosis will enable you to access the part of your mind that controls your thoughts, emotions and behaviour. (Known as the unconscious mind.)

Through direct and powerful communication with your unconscious mind, hypnosis will enable you to communicate with your subconscious mind to rewire and reprogramme unwanted thoughts and behaviours.

How many Hypnotherapy sessions do I need?

Hypnotherapy is described as ‘brief’ therapy, meaning treatment is conducted over a short period, usually 4-6 sessions.

Unlike other forms of therapy, we do not delve into your memories or traumas.

Our attention is focused on the patterns of behaviour you experience as unhelpful or the thoughts that trigger your phobia. We seek to replace them with resourceful thoughts and habits that free you from experiencing irrational fear.

“You free yourself from substance dependencies and unwanted habits using
Strategic Psychotherapy and Clinical Hypnotherapy.”

During a hypnotherapy session, a qualified hypnotherapist will guide you through a process to induce a trance-like state that helps focus your mind. You can respond more readily to suggestions that improve or eliminate unwanted thoughts and behaviours in this relaxed state. The initial session is 90 minutes, followed by 60-minute sessions.

Sessions are held online or face to face.

Sessions begin with talking, so your therapist can understand what you are experiencing. The hypnosis session follows. You will be given homework which includes listening to a recording before you go to bed.

During the hypnotherapy session, you remain awake, relaxed and in control.

Your hypnosis session will be 100% tailored to your specific needs and outcomes.

Hypnosis is a safe, gentle and relaxing experience, and it is designed to get to the source of the dependencies and unwanted habits and provide a new, positive outlook on life.

A 90-minute introductory session is held to identify and explore the areas you want to change and for your therapist to devise an appropriate and personal treatment plan.

You will then be guided in your first hypnotherapy session, which lasts approximately 15 – 20 minutes.

Typically for phobias and fear-related issues, 4 – 6 sessions are required
